A Comparison and Study of NTSC, PAL, and Secam Color Television Systems

Abstract:

This research paper is presented summarizing the NTSC, PAL, and SECAM color television system standards, pointing out the basic similarities as well as the main differences in areas such as the formation of chrominance signal, color burst characteristics, color encoding and decoding techniques, bandwidths, transmitting and receiving system and also discussing the differences of the these systems in the developing of digital TV, com-puter controlled TV and satellite broadcasting for up-date reason.
According to statistical data, NTSC is used in 31 nations, PAL used in 45 nations, and SECAM used in 29 nations. Though it's difficult to establish a universal system, by use of digital TV, we can receive programs from other systems, even simultaneous translation between different scanning rates and different color systems. Thus, the intent of this com-parison report will give you an overview of the three different color TV standards. It's essential if we want to get an effective international exchange of programming.
