Identity Crisis of Higher Education Author: Rex T. Lu

Abstract：

Identity crisis is the basic issue of higher education in Taiwan, Republic of China today. The present paper attempts to provide plausible ways for clarifying the meaning of higher ed-ucation. It comtains following four parts for discussion:
1.the characteristics of the problem of Identity Crisis;
2.two different kinds of practical meaning of higher education-traditional and modern;
3.two different theoretical approaches to the meaning of Higher Education -- epistemologi-cal and political; and
4.the plausible ways for facing the identity crisis of higher education today.
